It is Thanksgiving week, and I am counting my blessings. I have so much to be thankful about this year: the love and support of my family, deep and abiding friendships, and the bounty of my local farmers, just to name a few.
Like many of you, I am preparing for Thanksgiving as well. I am looking forward to cooking a rib roast from Baucom’s Beef. I will be making cornbread dressing and green bean casserole along with a big pan of chipotle-honey-glazed butternut squash.
I can’t wait to get in the kitchen!
But, I have one other big reason to celebrate the holidays this year. I’ve been working on a secret project for a while now, and I am finally ready to share it with you. Are you ready?
Are you sure? Here it comes! (Yes, I am a bit nervous. Can you tell?)
On December 1st the Lell’s Café book will be available on Amazon!
The book tells the story of Lell’s Cafe from conception to the last lights out. It is a collection of memories, but it also includes a few of the most loved and most requested recipes. Biscuits, anyone?
Writing this book became a labor of love as I recalled the efforts of all the amazing people who made the café possible. I can still close my eyes and hear the laughter, see the smiles, smell the soup, and taste the espresso. I am profoundly grateful for those memories, and I am even more aware of that gratefulness with Thanksgiving around the corner. Writing this book allowed me to share my immense gratitude for the opportunity of working with my stellar staff and feeding our wonderful customers. And soon, I will get to share that with you.
In all, I have many tangible and intangible reasons to be thankful this year. I hope your celebrations are filled with the people you love and you have the opportunity to eat with abandon and gratitude.
